I fell in love with plants, and in that, I also found that I liked nature a lot. Another ingredient came into play and that’s the fact that I like people. The practice of landscape architecture involves people working with people and the incorporation of natural environments and built environments. That seemed like a really good fit.

ASU President Michael Crow stated in a press release “The field of sustainability may, in large measure, determine whether life will be possible on Earth in a century or more, but the field is so new that it has yet to be defined.”

-- Sustainable Development.  What is it, exactly?  The UN Bruntland Commission crafted a broad based definition as “development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.”  In it’s simplest terms, sustainable development is a better balancing of economic, social and environmental needs.
