Phoenix Leisure Hotel Casino Masterplan was a proposal project for a piece of costal property located in Handcock County Mississippi. Sherman Group acted as the sole Landscape Architect and Planning consultant on the project, collaborating with Pace Architects. The site of the casino is located directly on the coast and is subject to potential flooding.
Sherman Group laid out the building masses on a system of stilts to protect the interior of the buildings from high floods. Below the stilts, a system of gardens, outdoor spaces and restaurant dining was proposed for the enjoyment of the hotel guests and casino patrons.
The resort offers a variety of accommodations, ranging from affordable suites to private cabanas with private swimming pools and hot tubs. A variety of restaurants and entertainment from gambling to water sports recreation located on an adjacent island, were all planned and laid out by Sherman Group.
The project was masterplanned to be constructed in phases as funds become available with every area of the hotel accessible to the beach at all times. The two adjacent golf courses, hotel casino sites and residential areas were also planned by Sherman Group.
